The 8471 uses a He-Ne laser as the reference wavelength, enabling highly accurate measurements for an optical wavelength meter based on the Michelson interferometer method. This allows for high-resolution and high-accuracy measurements of emission center frequencies, such as those of LDs for DWDM.
